The celebration of the Boston Celtics' NBA championship will continue this week as thousands of Boston sports fans ― who are no strangers to the iconic rolling rallies and duck boat parades that celebrated multiple championship titles in the past two decades ― flock to the city once again.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced Tuesday that the rolling rally duck boat parade will be on Friday, June 21 starting at 11 a.m. Over a million people are expected to attend the parade.

Wu said the city is excited "to be celebrating one more accomplishment for our incredible city of champions."

The parade will celebrate the Celtics' blowout106-88 victoryover theDallas Mavericks to win the NBA title in five games. The win marks the team's 18th title, breaking a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers and setting a new record.

"It's not just seeing history being made with banner 18, an unprecedented record now across the entire league and across all time, but, as a mom, it's been extremely meaningful for me to watch with my two boys how this team has gone about achieving this accomplishment," Wu said. "The day to day, throughout the entire season, the teamwork, the resiliency, the character they demonstrated in supporting in each other."

The parade will be at 11 a.m., according to the mayor's office. That's the time the parade has started to celebrate recent Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics wins.

What does the weather forecast look like for Friday?

The highs will be in the low 80s in Boston with a possibility of thunderstorms, according to the forecast from our media partner WCVB/StormCenter 5.

Part of the reason it's rumored that Friday is the date is because the temperatures will be marginally cooler than than the scorchers predicted for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as a heat wave is set to settle over the region.

Wu said they encourage people to stay hydrated and use sunscreen.

The parade is set to begin at the front of TD Garden on Causeway Street, then roll by City Hall Plaza on Cambridge Street and the along Boston Common on Tremont Street before ending by the Hynes Convention Center on Boylston Street.

Will the MBTA be increasing service for the Celtics parade?

Ahead of the parade, the MBTA will be increasing service on all of its line to make it easier for people to take public transit to the event. Officials are strongly advising taking public transit instead of trying to drive in.
