Unlike the Major League Mets’ success on Friday, the minor league affiliates struggled to piece together wins – only Syracuse and the Florida Complex League team pulled out victories. Brett Baty collected his 14th RBI in only 12 games played with Triple-A Syracuse, increasing his OPS to 1.162.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (45-26) 3, Rochester Red Wings (36-34) 1

BOX SCORE

  • 3BBrett Baty:1-for-3, R, RBI (14) (1.162 OPS)
  • 2B Luke Ritter: 1-for-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI (53) (.893 OPS)
  • RF Rhylan Thomas:1-for-3, R, 2B, BB (.779 OPS)

A three-run third inning propelled Syracuse to a win on Friday night over Rochester despite another Dylan Crews homer. RBI efforts from Brett Baty (single) and Luke Ritter (double) provided all the offense the Mets needed behind another stellar outing from Jose Buttó.

Brett Baty has crushed Triple-A pitching since his demotion from the big league club – he has 18 hits, five home runs, four doubles, and a 1.162 OPS in 12 games. Although it is in a hitter-friendly Triple-A park, it is a huge positive sign to see Baty lifting the ball and slugging after his struggles in the majors.

  • RHP Jose Buttó (3.13 ERA): 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K (90 pitches/ 60 strikes)
  • RHP Max Kranick (3.38): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
  • LHPJosh Walker (1.69): 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Ty Adco*ck (5.52): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Jose Butto has bounced back significantly after his command issues earlier in June – he posted three straight starts of allowing two or fewer runs while striking 17 batters and walking seven in that span. Buttó’s only blemish was allowing a home run to the newly promoted Dylan Crews. The Nationals’ top prospect has homered in consecutive games to start his Triple-A career. The bullpen was fantastic behind Buttó, allowing only one hit and two walks in the game’s final three innings.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (33-31) 4, Akron Rubberducks (36-30) 11

BOX SCORE

  • DH Kevin Parada: 2-for-4, R, K (.648 OPS)
  • C Drake Osborn: 4-for-4, 2B, RBI (11) (.699 OPS)
  • SS Wyatt Young: 2-for-4, RBI (15) (.741 OPS)
  • CF Jaylen Palmer:1-for-4, R, 2B, K (.868 OPS)

Despite 11 hits from the Rumble Ponies offense, Binghamton was defeated by Akron 11-4. The Ponies scored in each of the final three frames, but an early 8-1 deficit was too large to fight back from. Drake Osborn was the hot bat for Binghamton Friday evening, going 4-for-4 while collecting a double in his second consecutive game for the Rumble Ponies.

  • RHPNolan McLean (6.93): 2 1/3 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (61 pitches/38 strikes)
  • RHP Junior Santos (6.38): 1 2/3 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Cameron Foster (3.98): 4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

McLean has run into some issues in June pitching-wise – sporting a 6.08 ERA while only throwing 13.1 innings in four starts. The long ball continues to be the two-way player’s downfall, allowing two more home runs in his outing on Friday and the fifth and sixth homers gave up in June. McLean has allowed eight home runs and 19 earned runs in his six starts in Double-A.

High-A

Jersey Shore BlueClaws (39-28) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (33-34) 2 In 10 Innings

BOX SCORE

  • SS William Lugo:1-for-3, R, HR (4), RBI (24), BB, K (.650 OPS)
  • CF Nick Morabito: 2-for-5 (.754 OPS)
  • 3B Junior Tilien: 1-for-4, 2B, RBI (19) (.656 OPS)

The Cyclones fell to Jersey Shore in extra innings 3-2 in their Friday night duel. It was an exciting finish to the ball game, with Brooklyn down to their final out in the bottom of the ninth inning down 3-2, when William Lugo hit a game-tying solo homer to send the game to extras. While the BlueClaws managed to bring around the free runner, the Cyclones stranded the tying run on third base, ending the game.

  • RHP Kade Morris (4.85): 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (78 pitches/ 53 strikes)
  • LHP Julian Smith (6.23): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
  • RHP Joshua Cornielly (3.45): 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 3 K

Morris was solid for Brooklyn, keeping the BlueClaws to only two runs after allowing a first-inning home run to Felix Reyes. While his strikeout numbers aren’t the same as in St. Lucie, he has been a consistent piece of the Cyclones’ starting rotation. Julian Smith pitched a spotless seventh inning, allowing the Cyclones to close the deficit and take the game to extras.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (22-43) 7, Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (30-34) 3

BOX SCORE

  • DH Jesus Baez: 1-for-4, 2 K (.795 OPS)
  • 1B Yohairo Cuevas:1-for-3, K (.521 OPS)
  • SS Colin Houck: 1-for-3, K (.624 OPS)

It was a rough performance for the St. Lucie, who mustered only three hits and no walks. The Mets batters also struck out 13 times in their 8-0 trouncing by Fort Myers.

  • RHP Saul Garcia (6.33): 5IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 3 K

Like the offense, the St. Lucie pitching staff struggled to keep the Mighty Mussels off the scoreboard – every pitcher gave up at least two earned runs and allowed 13 hits and five walks.

FCL Mets (16-17) 11, FCL Nationals (13-20) 4
