More homes without water as SWW issues continue (2024)

South West Water (SWW) has warned customers of emergency work in Cornwall after a burst water main left thousands of people without running water. Customers in the TR5, St Agnes area have been told they may have low pressure or loss of supply.

SWW said: "Customers in St Agnes - TR5 may be experiencing lower pressure or loss of supply, we have an engineer on the way to investigate. Thank you for your patience & apologies for any inconvenience."

A major issue with the water supply was affecting thousands in Cornwall yesterday (Tuesday, July 23). Properties across the Truro, Redruth and Camborne areas reportedly had no mains water supply, with some reporting intermittent supply.

Multiple people told CornwallLive they are experiencing issues. One person said: "Have you heard anything about water issues in Camborne this morning? We have no water". Another person added: "Mains water outage in Redruth."

The interactive map, which shows ongoing work from South West Water (SWW), did report any major issues across the region. It appears that thousands of residents are affected.

The South West Water helpline is inundated with calls from customers. One resident has reported over a three-hour wait to speak to the helpline. South West Water has been contacted for further information.

Queues for water claims

A resident says: "Apparently very wide spread. Redruth, St Agnes, Portreath etc. Big queues at supermarkets for water. It's the lack of info on their web site that gets me, as well as the very long wait. They haven't learnt from Brixham obviously."

That's a reference to the water contamination incident that left homes without water or having to boil it for weeks.

Long queues for water at supermarkets

More towns across Cornwall are affected by the issue. One person told CornwallLive:
