Is there a reset button on a Bryant air conditioner? ›

Bryant air conditioners are no different. However, unlike other companies that manufacture air conditioners, the brand doesn't have a reset button on the air conditioner. You have to reset the device by resetting the circuit breaker in your house.

Check the circuit breakers at the electrical panel. Check the SSU switch (it looks like a light switch on a gray box located at the furnace) to be sure it is in the “ON” position. Check to ensure the furnace filter isn't in need of replacement. All one-inch thick furnace filters should be replaced monthly.

This could be due to several reasons – dirty air filters, blocked air supply vents, and dirty blower winds. Not changing the filters often could lead to clogged filters, resulting in overheating of the heat exchanger. A dirty blower wheel is to be blamed in case of rapid switching on and off of your furnace.

If your AC unit has a reset button on the condenser unit, you simply press it and hope that the problem resolves. Look for it first around on the exterior of your machine, especially along the bottom edge near the ground. An AC's reset button is typically red and visible, so it should be easy to spot.

Once the blower is cool, locate the reset button, which is usually red and located on the backside of the motor. If the reset button has popped, push it back in. This button connects to a small circuit breaker inside the blower that will pop if it gets overloaded.

The wiring could be old and need replacing, it might need new batteries, or it could be the location of your thermostat. If your thermostat is placed close to a heat source such as direct sunlight or a heat register, it will skew the temperature reading causing the thermostat to turn on and off irregularly.

You can diagnose and fix some furnace fan issues on your own. Faulty wiring or a broken switch will require professional repair.

Outdoor AC Unit Reset Button: Many outdoor air conditioning units come equipped with a reset button which needs to be pressed in order for them to function properly after being turned off for any reason (e.g., maintenance).

Common Reasons Your AC Is Not Cooling

It could be due to a dirty air filter blocking the airflow, causing your air conditioner to work overtime and yet not cool effectively. A simple solution is cleaning or replacing the filter monthly. Another reason might be a refrigerant leak in your AC system.

Wait for 30 minutes before turning your unit back from the thermostat. This gives your system plenty of time to reset its own internal circuit breaker.
