Primary Purpose of Department:

The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative and service goals.

Primary Purpose of Position:

The Data Governance Coordinator is the team lead over the university’s data governance program.

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

The Data Governance Coordinator serves as the strategic and tactical leader for Data Governance across the university. The primary responsibility is to establish and maintain data governance standards, working closely with campus data stewards, owners, stakeholders, operational units, and OneIT teams. This position formulates and implements data governance strategies, oversees enterprise data governance initiatives, and ensures compliance with data privacy and security requirements. Additionally, this position develops, manages, and continuously refines governance structures, processes, policies, and standards to enhance our data assets and enable their utilization in administrative domains.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and
  • Two+ years of extensive work experience with large data sets preferably in higher education; or the
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Data Governance implementation and adherence experience.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in data analytics, data management, business analytics, or business administration preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a data governance, data analysis, data quality, business intelligence, or data management role
  • Experience assisting with the development and implementation of data standards, policies, practices, and procedures
  • Experience with data governance principles and supporting technology
  • Experience with data industry frameworks
  • Experience with data analytic software
