A piece of stiff wire with a hook bent in one end and hooked over the top of the defelecter shout, with the other end attached to something on the deck. Done !
So far, the piece of 1x4 the dealer stuck in there when he delivered it is working fine and staying in place, I'm just trying to come up with something that looks a little more "professional"...

If you ordered through Cub Cadet and the dealer won't provide the part you bought and paid for, maybe contact Cub Cadet directly to complain about the dealer's service. The downside could be the guy acting even worse next time you go into his dealership?
That's a good thought. I'm pretty much done with this dealer anyway...

Interesting. Our local Kawasaki dealer always has the oil filters in stock for our mule.
I bought a similar cub cadet ZT last June and never got to use it. It arrived with shipping damage, so I sent it back. Discovered they were back ordered with no shipping date available. So I ended up buying a Stihl zero turn from a local dealer off the floor. It has the four wheel suspension and I really like that because I’m mowing off yard native grass and the ground isn’t smooth. So far I’m pretty pleased with the unit overall and believe the suspension makes a huge difference. Hopefully a suspension seat will help to smooth out the ride on your machine.
I haven't looked closely at ZTR suspension systems, but it seems there are two types (well, three, if you count suspension seats). One has a suspended operator platform and the wheels are fixed, and the other has springs on the front wheels.
It always seemed to me that having the springs on the wheels would cause the mower deck to bounce up and down and make for an uneven cut. However, this must not be the case, because I have never seen a complaint about it.

My Stihl has springs on all 4 wheels. I’ve never had issues with the deck bouncing. They are basically repainted and rebadged Ferris mowers.

Our Simplicity Citation has no issues with the deck bouncing. Our yard needs a suspension ZTR too due to the bumpiness.

I guess, when you think about it, having no suspension could (and does) cause uneven cut too, when the front wheel(s) go into a bump, but the rear wheels aren't there yet. So the suspension can't be any worse and is way better in operator comfort.
