Is there free parking at the University of Minnesota? ›

University parking meters are free on University holidays (except events). Individuals with a state-issued disability permit or license plate may park free at campus meters for a maximum of three hours (except at one-hour-limit locations - Northrop, Coffman, Mariucci and McNamara).

Off-Peak Contract Parking hours are 4:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday – Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and on official University holidays. Students, faculty, and staff with 24/7 parking contracts may park at one of 15 facilities during Off-Peak Contract Parking hours if space is available.

Transit Services

Metro Transit provides city bus schedules online or you can call 612-373-3333 to talk to a transit expert.

Except when event rates are in effect, campus parking is complimentary in unrestricted lots and non-gated facilities from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on weekdays, from noon on Saturdays until 6 a.m. on Monday and on University holidays.

Pay Parking is enforced in pay lots and on-street meters daily, including holidays.

In general, Off-Peak hours begin at 09:30 from Monday to Friday in cities and large towns, and at 09:00 everywhere else. If your train is scheduled to depart after this time, you can travel with an Off-Peak ticket.

Participating customers will pay more for electricity during a five-hour peak period from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Customers will be rewarded with an off-peak rate during the day that is slightly less than the average rates customers are currently paying as well as an overnight super off-peak rate from midnight to 6 a.m., when ...

You use off-peak to describe something that happens or that is used at times when there is least demand for it. Prices at off-peak times are often lower than at other times.

UTP costs $45 per semester/$90 per year, including summer. It is part of the Transportation & Safety Fee. Students who opt into the UTP will be billed for their pass.

Fares range from $2 to $3.25, depending on time of day. You can pay bus fares in exact change in coins and bills, with a Go-To Card or with the Metro Transit app. Metro Transit offers fast, frequent service to both downtowns, Mall of America and hundreds of other popular attractions.

North Star Promise Scholarship

This is Minnesota's new free college program. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must: Be a Minnesota resident. Have a family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Minnesota Dream Act Application below $80,000.

Parking garages

Unless otherwise posted, parking is free in the garages beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.
