Bangor Daily News, Monday, June 14, 1976 AROOSTOOK Deaths and funerals across the state NICHOLAS PINKHAM HARRINGTON Nicholas D. Pinkham, 54, died June 11 at a Togus hospital following a long illness. He was born in Columbia Nov. 14, 1922, son of Eldon and (Sinclair) Pinkham. Mr.

Pinkham was a veteran of World War Il. He was a local building contractor, chairman of the Democratic Party of Harrington, member of the Machias American Legion Post and had received the rank of captain in the Maie State National Guard. He is survived by his mother, Edith Carkhuff, stepfather, Bruce Carkhuff; his wife, Mrs. Joan (Libby) Pinkham of Harrington; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Susan) Brooks Jr.

of Addison, Miss Lynne Pinkham of Harrington; four brothers, Norris, Clinton and Voranus, all of Harrington, and Alezander of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Audrey) Matthews of Cherryfield, Mrs. Tom (Erma) Flaherty of Buxton, Mrs. Richard (Holly) Corson of Yarmouth; three aunts; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Military funeral services will be held at the Harrington Methodist Chruch at 2 p.m.

Tuesday with the Rev. Erma Bigelow and the Rev. Tom Vining, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington. Friends may Campbell Funeral Home, Cherryfield, Monday 2 to 9 p.m.

JONAS R. CRANE BIRCH HARBOR Jonas R. Crane, 81, died June 12. He was born at Winter Harbor July 2, 1894, son of James and Lucy (Grover) Crane. He is survived by one brother, John of Birch Harbor; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Birch Harbor Church Monday at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at the family lot, Birch Harbor. MRS. L. PHILIP PELLETIER PORTLAND Mrs.

Katherine "Nan" (Perry) Pelletier, 69, wife of L. Philip Pelletier, died June 13 at a Portland hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Pelletier was born in Hampden, daughter of John and Anna Helena (Lary) Perry, Nov. 16, 1906.

Educated in Bangor schools, Mrs. Pelletier received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N. Y. For many years Mrs. Pelletier taught in Bangor schools, also in Van Buran and the South Portland school system.

She came to the Portland area in 1944 from Van Buren. She was a communicatn of St. Patrick's Church in Portland, a member of its women's guild and the Maine Teachers Association, and a former member of the American Association of University Women. Besides hur husband, she is survived by three sisters, Sister M. Regina Perry of New Rochelle, N.

Miss Helena R. Perry and Mrs. Thomas E. (Valeria) Jordan, both of Hampden; four brothers, J. Francis and N.

Searle, both of Hampden; Dr. Thomas F. Perry of Provincetown, and Vincent M. Perry of South Yarmouth, one aunt, Mrs. John Salisbury, nee Ella Perry, of Hampden, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Friends may call at the Conroy Tully Funeral Home, 172 State Portland, Monday 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Wednesday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.

MARGARET (MELIA) GRAY GARDINER Mrs. Margaret (Melia) Gray, 72, died June 12 at the Gardiner General Hospital. She was born Feb. 29, 1904, in South Portland, daughter of Austin J. and Wilhelmina (Jordan) Melia.

Mrs. Gray was employed as an office manager for Gardiner Paper Mill and the Yorktowne Paper Mills of Maine Inc. of Gardiner. She was a member of the Lovejoy Shores Association of Fayette and the Zonta Club of Augusta. She IS survived by two daughters, Mrs.

Playhouse rehearses for 'Luv' PRESQUE ISLE 'Luv'', called one of America's brightest, zaniest comedy hits, will be presented by Pioneer Playhouse of the University of Maine here at 8 p.m. June 18 to 20 in Wieden Auditorium. Directed by Professor John Sbordone, the play has three characters. The story begins with one of them, Harry Berlin, a beatnik, ready to jump off a bridge and end it all. Along comes Milt, the picture of prosperity, who intervenes.

They discover they were college classmates and as the story progresses, it is revealed that Milt's plight is also one of a misery because his wife won't release him to marry the womean he lives. Enter the wife, Ellen, and a triangle is matched in misery. Milt's inspiration is to get Harry and Ellen together so he can marry the other woman. When the play was first reviewed on Broadway and the New York Times called it. delicious spoof on a multitude of matters." The New York World Telegram labeled it an "evening of unalloyed pleasure, of sustained and perfect comedy of total, tempetuous and glorious glee." MRS. LYDIA EMMONS BANGOR Mrs. Lydia Emmons, 70, died June 12 at a local hospital after a brief illness. She had made her residence at 78 Moosehead Blvd. in Bangor.

She was born Dec. 18, 1905, in Easton, daughter of Henry and Rhoda (Cray) MacPherson. She had been a housekeeper for many years for Robert E. Horuck. Surviving is one brother, Clinton J.

(Haskell) Ward, 81, died June 12 at a local hospital after a short illness. She was born Dec. 16, 1894, in Passaic, N.J., daughter of P. and Ruth (Bond) Stanley. She was a 50 year member and a past worthy matron of Harborview Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Deer Isle.

She was a member of the Island Senior Citizens and the Island Women's Club. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Deer Isle and its ladies aid group. She is survived by her husband, Ferdinand of Deer Isle; two daughters, Janice Plumb of Deer Isle and Mrs. Thomas (Judith) McGuire of Sunset; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Golesky of Fairfield, several. nieces and nephews.

HOWARD M. DODGE COOPER Howard M. Dodge, 82, died June 11 at a Bangor hospital following a long illness. He was born in Cooper March 29, 1894, son of Edgar and Elmira (Henderson) Dodge. He was a veteran of World War I a member of the Cathance Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian (Look) Dodge of Cooper; one stepson, John Johnson of. Lake Worth, one brother, Nathan Dodge of Cooper; five nephews; four nieces. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Scholl Funeral Chapel in Calais, the Rev. Darrell Archer officiating.

BARROWS SCARBOROUGH Bertha E. Barrows, 104, widow of Fred G. Barrows of Scarborough, and holder of the Boston Post Cane since 1966, and the miniature lion presented by the Scarborough Lions Club to the oldest citizen of Scarborough, died Sunday morning at her residence. She was born in Scarborough Jan. 4, 1872, the daughter of Enoch and Nancy (Merrill) Snow.

She attended Scarborough schools and resided in Scarborough most of her life. Mrs. Barrows and her husband owned and operated the Raymond Inn in Raymond, Maine for 23 years. She was a member of the Blue Point Congregational Church of Scarborough. Her husband died in 1960 and she is survived by one daughter, Mrs.

Chester, (Emily) Bellows of Scarborough with whom she made her home; one sister, Mrs. Walter (Olive) Tarbox of Brewer; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Hay and Peabody Funeral Home, Dunstan Corner, Scarborough. Interment in Raymond Village Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Monday 2 4 and 7 9 p.m. at the funeral home. HARRY ORSER EAST CORINTH Harry Orser, 59, died June 11 at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 22, 1917, in Sebec, son of William and Margaret (Buchanan) Orser. He attended Milo schools and was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clayton (Kathleen) Nichols of Easton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home in East Corinth with the Rev. Sydney Buzzell, pastor of the East Corinth United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Corinthian Cemetery, East Corinth. KARL DUNBAR CASTINE Karl Dunbar, 77, died in Castine June 12. He was born at Boothbay Harbor Aug. 9, 1898, son of Burke and Emma (Devereux) Dunbar. He was a member of the Hanco*ck Lodge of Masons of Castine.

He is survived by one daughter, Frances Markle, Darien Center, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild. McCannell, 77, died June 12 at a Bangor nursing home following a long illness. She was born on Beals Island May 21, 1899, daughter of Thomas E. and Julia (Beals) Norton. She is survived by seven sons, Oscar A. of Bradley; James E.

JOHN M. B. HANSCOM LINCOLN John M. B. Hanscom, 61, died June 11 at a local hospital.

He was born in Lincoln March 4, 1915, son of Roscoe and Jennie (Berry) Hanscom. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Godbyr) Hanscom; three daughters, Lola, Katherine and Margaret, all of Lincoln; one half brother, Byron Mott of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Clay Funeral Home, the Rev. Harry Lewis officiating.

Interment will be in the Lincoln Cemetery.
